Chevy Volt Ready For Testing

Shockingly it looks like an American car company may be heading towards the finish line first on the Plug In Hybrid Front. Chevy has announced that they will have production ready prototypes of the Chevy Volt within 10 days.

Wow.

Can't wait for this car to come out, and it's great to hear that it's an American company (yes, it is shocking!). I just wrote a Squidoo lens on the Volt, too.

Let's hope that it lasts longer than the EV-1.

I'm not surprised. With the rising commodity prices, people's pocketbooks have been shrinking. U.S. companies will always follow where there's $$$...

Why "shockingly"?? Was it a pun, or a shot at America?? I really don't quite understand if it's the latter. This country has always been a place of innovation. Necessity breeds invention, right - and with the current state of oil, there seems to be more merit for actually pursuing such a car.

Cheers,

Dave

Well, i guess it was a pun, but i actually meant it. If you look back to the gas crunch of the 70's it took american car companies forever to recognizer that people were interested in smaller cars. The EV1 was a step int he right direction, but as soon as they could, GM backpedaled. I think you are right about necessity, but in the past, the american car companies have been behind the curve imho, so it's nice to see them at the forefront right now.

I was going to leave the same comment as David. Americans have a history of innovation. The use of "Shockingly" at the beginning of the blog made this feel like a backhanded compliment.
